We are group 1 and are currently in development of an exciting marketing project for a business that revolves around UMD students. Our business will allow students to connect with one another to trade or sell books via the web with possible social network integration. We came across this idea while thinking about services and opportunities that us as students could really use.
Every semester, many students go through the arduous task of searching for textbooks both new and used. We thought of a site where students could list books they no longer needed and browse the site for books listed by other members. In many cases, trading back books can lead to disappointing transactions in which only of a fraction of the price of a textbook was recovered. Our site would allow members to choose their own prices and even arrange trades with other members.
The advantage our site provides over other web based services such as eBay and craigslist is that it is specifically tailored to University of Maryland students.
